To end homelessness in Boise and Ada County through public education, policy advocacy, and coordinated services.
The Homeless Coalition in Boise City/Ada County is a diverse membership group of homeless service provider agencies, homeless persons, volunteers, advocates, and concerned individuals committed to ending homelessness through public education, policy advocacy, and coordinated services. Members of the Coalition act as a voice so that no homeless or at risk individual or family shall be without proper services or needed assistance; and provides a forum for exchanging information between member agencies and individual between member agencies and individuals.
While other groups focus on necessary compliance with federal regulations, funding applications, and systems planning, the Homeless Coalition was established to be a collective voice for homeless men, women, and children.
Homeless individuals and families are not statistics. Rather, people experiencing homelessness are just that: people. They are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens. We must never be conditioned to respond as if that were not the case.
The Homeless Coalition typically meets the second Wednesday of every month, except in July, at Cathedral of the Rockies in the Fellowship Hall (717 N. 11th in Boise). While there are other “roundtable” meetings and collaborative processes that occur in the Treasure Valley, the Homeless Coalition’s primary distinction is its dedication to advocacy for persons experiencing homelessness.
The membership of the Boise/Ada County Homeless Coalition agrees:
- To treat all people with dignity and respect,
- That homelessness is unacceptable in our community, and requires the application of our collective compassion, resources, advocacy and action.
- To recognize each individual and family’s right to stable, safe, and affordable housing, quality medical and mental health care, food, clothing, education and sustaining income and/or employment.
- To encourage best practices, while advocating for change and innovation.
